Greetings!

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate, encourage and celebrate with all Monterey Bay Dental Hygienists, as a result of the passing of Senate Bill 853 signed by Governor Schwarzenegger! California is the first state in our nation to establish a self-regulating agency charged with licensure, education and enforcement of dental hygiene, to be known as the Dental Hygiene Committee of CA (DHCC). This is an historical event for the profession of dental hygiene providing autonomy and recognition. Your membership in our state and local association will now support our profession in a new way. Technically, one is not a member of a real 'profession' unless the group meets several criteria; one of which is to be self-regulated. Join me in spreading our news and encouraging hygienists in our area who are not current members, to join our remarkable association! CDHA works tirelessly each year to elevate our profession with new direction and credibility. Our membership dues support many legislative goals, our lobbyist, public relations, our journals, etc. Congratulations to all current members. We contributed to this historic landmark for our profession!
